K-Pop singer, songwriter and dancer Yugyeom (유겸), brought his first North American solo tour ‘TRUSTY’ to the El Rey in Los Angeles. For many fans in the city, it had been six years since they last saw their idol, and Ahgases, fandom, needed more than “1 MINUTE”, and more than one night, with the artist as he performed back to back nights in the city. The theatre, packed front to back with fans, shining green from the glow of lightsticks, rang of booming excitement all night long.

Yugyeom debuted in 2014 with seven member K-Pop group GOT7, the group recently released their comeback EP WINTER HEPTAGON earlier this year. This maknae, meaning youngest, currently with AOMG, debuted as a soloist in 2021 releasing several singles and most recently full length album TRUST ME, which features amongst the TRUSTY setlist.
Yugyeom, accompanied by DJ Wegun, was about to turn this packed intimate Los Angeles venue into an all out dance party. Filled with memorable dance numbers, sultry vocals, hit songs, and of course barking from the crowd, Yugyeom gave his all on the stage, with Ahgases giving the love and energy right back.
As fan’s adrenaline began to rise, Yugyeom took the stage, surrounded by heavy fog and silhouetted by lights. The show started with “I Want U Around”, off debut solo album Point of View: U, followed by “LOLO” and “WOYAYAYA.” Yugyeom, taking note of the crowd’s energy from the start, tells fans he wants to hear them sing along through the night.

Sing along they did, as the artist headed into “Take You Down (feat. Coogie)” and “All Your Fault (Feat. GRAY),” even showcasing some new choreography, backup dancers Eom Tae Woong (엄태웅) and Son Dong Jin (손동진) amplifying the numbers. Heading into TRUST ME tracks, “SHE,” “Dance,” and “SHINE (feat SUMIN),” the energy only continued to rise. Introducing what he calls his “personal favorite,” and according to the explosion of screams, the crowd may agree, Yugyeom heads into heavy dance track “Steppin,” bursts of smoke erupting from the stage throughout the number.
The second fit of the night, a white sleeveless tee and red jacket tied around his waist, which lent itself to showcase Yugyeom’s numerous tattoos, allowed for a laid back appearance suitable for the dancer’s flowing and rhythmic choreography. After tirelessly dancing to his newest track “Sweet Like,” the idol takes a break to chug water, the crowd continuing to scream, before calmly asking “Everything’s fine?” Everything was not fine as Yugyeom performed his catchy unreleased track, “Set Me Free.” When will this song be available? Asking for a friend.

Though he may struggle to pass his driving test, he never fails to drive fans wild, his honey vocals and sultry dance moves on full display with tracks “Be Alright (Feat. punchnello)” and “All About U (Feat. Loco).” Giving the audience a moment to catch their breath, Yugyeom headed into slower romantic track “Falling In Love,” before amping it right back up again with grab me by the hair, “Ponytail (Feat Sik-K).”
Taking a moment to address his mandatory military service later this year, fans externally groaning while internally sobbing, Yugyeom promised Ahgases he would take care of himself and stay healthy, noting his sentiments that he would remember this day and the promise to come back with an album to make fans proud. Finishing up the set with “Love The Way (Feat Jay Park and punchnello)” and fan favorite “1 MINUTE,” the idol continued to bring his explosive energy and adoration for fans as he ended the set dancing across the stage while interacting with the crowd as they waved their hands high in the air singing along to every word.

With heavy cheers of audiences chanting “Encore,” the ever smiling idol stepped out on stage one last time. Wearing a custom Lakers jersey, gifted from the theatre, Yugyeom headed into the encore with the crowd excitedly cheering along. Spraying water across fans while bringing all his energy to the stage Yugyeom ended the night with “WUH” and GOT7 hit “Hard Carry,” bringing the night to a roaring climax.
Fans soaked in every minute with Yugyeom, bringing him all their love and support. Those lucky enough to attend night two will carry on their enthusiasm into the following performance. Showcasing his smooth vocals, both sharp and sensual dance moves and hitting each featured rap number, Yugyeom delivered a performance worthy of the six year wait, giving Ahgases a night to remember until they can meet again.
