After visiting 19 cities including Denver, Toronto, New York and Oakland Tkay Maidza concluded her North American 2024 Sweet Justice tour this past weekend in Los Angeles. Performing at the El Rey Theatre featuring opener Tayla Parx, the city welcomed the singer with loud cheers and high energy.
Bursting onto the stage with songs “Grasshopper”, “Love & Other Drugs" and “Won One” Maidza set the electric tone for the night. The rapper was styled in an all black ensemble embellished with metal rings and donning a matching septum ring and metal chest piece, completing the look with black platform boots and white geometric eye makeup.
Sweet Justice Tour showcased songs from the singer’s latest album of the same name as well as past hits from previous EP That Was Weird Vol. 2 and various singles.
Sweet Justice, Maidza’s second full length album was released this past November and contains 14 new tracks. The album dives into topics of self reflection, self confidence and is a collection of the singers own experiences.
As the show continued Maidza performed tracks “Ghost”, “Out of Luck” and “Ring-a-Ling”. While introducing “Out of Luck” Maidza mentioned it was a song where she realized the things she thought she wanted maybe weren’t what she actually wanted and that in a hard moment in her life “it was the journey [she] needed to take”. Maidza was later joined by special guest Duckwrth and the pair performed their song “Gone to the West”.
In an already fiery environment Maidza turned up the heat while performing “Free Throws” followed by “Silent Assassin” where she dove into the crowd and began to crowd surf. She continued to interact with the crowd through the night, holding hands with members and getting on the barricade to be close to the audience showcasing her connection to her fans.
While saying her goodbyes before the finale Maidza took a moment to thank her team and the audience as the North American Tour comes to an end. After exiting the stage the singer appeared one final time to perform encore song “WIMM” before concluding her final performance.
Keep up to date with this eye catching artist; with music that passes through different genres, high energy and stunning visuals we can only look forward to what’s next for Tkay Maidza
