This past weekend The Orpheum in Los Angeles was home to South Korean girl group ODD EYE CIRCLE as part of their US tour Volume Up. After starting in New York at the beginning of the year, the group makes it’s way through the US visiting cities such as Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Volume Up marks the groups first world tour with previous stops throughout Europe.
ODD EYE CIRCLE, a subunit of ARTMS under MODHAUS, features members Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry.
With lines snaking through the theatre leading into the parking lot, fans waited up until showtime to purchase merchandise. Carrying lightsticks and fan signs the audience eagerly awaited the arrival of their favorite K-Pop trio.
The show opened up with the three members each doing a solo number while donning matching plaid outfits. Kim Lip started us off performing 'Eclipse' incorporating floor-work and sultry dance moves. JinSoul followed with upbeat track 'Singing in the Rain', and lastly Choerry provided bright bubble gum pop with track 'Love Cherry Motion'.
The group followed up with two duets before finally joining each other on stage as a group of three for their songs 'Uncover' and 'Chaotic', found on their 2017 EP Mix & Match.
The girls briefly split once more to perform one cover song each with JinSoul performing SZA’s 'Kill Bill', Kim Lip performing Tyla’s 'Water' and Choerry singing Dua Lipa’s 'Don’t Start Now'.
The trio joined on stage to make their introductions and talk to fans with Kim Lip stating ‘Wow, the cheers are really loud today”. With an eruption of screams the group stated they will “have to do two shows in LA” next time.
Following an announcement that their latest EP Version Up placed number 1 on the world wide iTunes chart, the group performed B side tracks 'Love me Like' and 'Je Ne Se Quoi'.
OURII (fanbase name) was able to get a glimpse into the groups tour prep during the second VCR which showcased behind the scenes look into their journey leading up to arriving in the US.
Appearing back on stage in pink skirts with various cartoon patches, white platform shoes and leg warmers the trio performed 'Starlight' and 'Lucid'. While performing 'Lucid' the girls walked around the stage waving and completing hand hearts to fans. Following these softer tracks the group performed upbeat songs 'Loonatic', 'Air Force One' and 'Sweet Crazy Love'. In what was by far the highest energy from the crowd, they erupted with screams as the first notes of 'Air Force One' started to play. OURII’s could be seen jumping and dancing and heard screaming and singing along to 'Sweet Crazy Love'.
A brief VCR begins to play where the group thanks fans for coming while taking selfies, when revealing their selfie we see the screen display the word 'ENCORE'. The three arrive back on stage toting their lightsticks and wearing their merchandise. They end the show with 'My Secret Playlist', 'Girl Front' and 'Hi High'. Before exiting they interact with fans, and Choerry even takes a few cameras from the audience to take selfies with. They lastly leave OURII with some homework and request they add the setlist to their playlists.
The girls wave their final goodbyes and head off stage.
Volume Up continues their ten stop US tour with stops in San Francisco, Mexico City and lastly Monterrey. They will round out their tour with a final stop in Tokyo on February 10th. Ticketing info for US dates can be found at Ticketmaster
