NCT 127 Hit the 'Gas' at Their Final North American Tour Stop in Los Angeles

Wrapping up their North American tour, 'The Momentum 4th Tour Neo City : North America,' KPop group NCT 127 hit the Los Angeles stage. The group, who visited Duluth, Newark, Toronto, Rosemont and San Antonio, finished off their six city tour at The Crypto Arena in downtown Los Angeles on March 12th.

Despite their constant scrutiny and criticism since their debut in 2016, NCT 127 proves to be a hard hitting addition to KPop. With their signature “noise” music, sharp and precise choreography and powerful vocals to back it all up they are not only well rounded but a heavy hitting force within the genre.

Active members Johnny (쟈니), Yuta (유타), Doyoung (도영), Jungwoo (정우), Mark (마크), and Haechan (해찬), members Taeyong (태용) and Jaehyun (재현) completing their mandatory military service, brought the energy to the arena full of NCTzens. While absent, the members were not forgotten, appearing on the screen behind the group throughout the show. “LA, do you know how to party?” shouted Johnny at the top of the performance, and fans did not disappoint.

Full pedal to the metal, NCT 127 started the show with “Gas”, “Faster” and “Bring the Noize.” Showing no signs of decreasing speed, these six baddies went on to deliver “2 Baddies,” “Skyscraper” and “Chain”. Who would expect there to be a beautiful belt within a song called “2 Baddies,” but Doyoung delivers just that alongside the hype fan favorite.

With it’s industrial sound and the number’s precise and sharp choreography, “Chain” quickly became a stand out moment for me as it closed out the first set.

Shifting tone and wardrobe was more laid back “Designer” and “Orange Seoul,” the group took the numbers to move about the stage and serenade the crowd. My fellow Chicagoan, Johnny, catching my attention in his sleek and stunning shining long black coat.

Earlier in the night Yuta asked the crowd to give it their all in return as he gives his all on stage, NCTzens doing just that, the cheering and singing only getting louder as the night went on. The screams, noticeably more voluminous, echo through the arena as the polarizing track “Sticker” began it’s first notes- the love for the song even shocking the members.

Despite having minimal stopping points, the show continued with high energy numbers “Whiplash” and “Lemonde.” “Whiplash” providing Mark’s fast and rhythmic rap as well as featured dance breaks within “Lemonade.” Amongst the explosive numbers, the six took time to slow things down, showcasing the strength in their live vocals with numbers “Gold Dust” and “No Longer,” with Jungwoo and Haechan highlighting their powerful high notes. The set, though minimal, didn’t stop the members from utilizing every corner of the stage. “Far” was a prime example of the utilization of elements, the group standing atop the stripped back stairs, several members holding flags adorned with their logo while fire and pyrotechnics flashed around them.

The energy is unwavering as the show began to come to a close. Continuing to power through, a sign of the members' stamina, are some of NCT 127’s well known songs “Kick It” and “Fact Check,” fans shouting along to every word.

Awaiting the encore, NTCzens created a fan wave around the arena waving their light sticks high in the air as their turn approached. The group appeared back on stage in casual white tees with lyrics “Ay Ay, Get Out My Way” and jeans embellished with “NCT 127” down the leg. Taking sweet songs “Meaning of Love” and “Dreams Come True” the six walked around the stage playfully waving to fans, even taking several fans phones for selfies all while throwing signed balls into the crowd - Yuta showing he could have an additional career in baseball as he launched several high into the crowd.

The members, feeling sentimental this was the last stop on the tour, took each small break to give mention to to the final stop and thank fans for being with them. In their last moments, Johnny wished he could stay longer while noting he was trying to slow things down to do just that, ending with the heartfelt message, “I really hope that when NTCzens find happiness they find us, they look for us.” Both Yuta and Doyoung took their final MENT to share the positive impact 'Momentum' has had on them, Yuta pointing out the different kind of energy in the house and how that energy is a positive force for him, while Doyoung shared how the tour has given him a chance to love himself and his team and the positive journey he is on. NCT 127 continued to express their gratitude to their team, and the fans for their support.

As confetti engulfed the stage, the six members, waving to the crowd, ended their North American tour with “Promise You” and the promise they would be back soon. The six took their finals bows before heading off stage for the final time.

Despite facing many challenges, NCT 127 continues to prove to be a well rounded and strong force in KPop. With unwavering determination and fan support, the group’s success will only continue to expand, with NCTzens looking forward to what comes next. NCT 127 will bring 'The Momentum 4th Tour Neo City' to Asia with ten shows throughout Japan, Taiwan and China.
