Griff Takes Los Angeles Crowd on Emotional Spin During 'Vertigo' Tour

Singer songwriter Griff performed to a nearly sold out house on October 7th at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern. For fans not able to attend the performance they were invited to watch an online live stream via the app Veeps. Griff, known for her emotional and powerful songs most recently released her debut studio album Vertigo in July, 2024. Her current tour shares the same name and showcases songs from the album along with past favorites. Combining her energetic stage presence, powerful vocals and captivating relatable lyrics Griff pulls out a performance worthy of a major pop star.

The Wiltern was filled with fans, many emulating the singers style, wearing flowing skirts, slicked back styled hair and lace. Vibing to the pre show set list, the crowd, ceasing mid conversations to sing lyrics to Taylor Swift's “Cruel Summer” in unison, eagerly await Griff’s performance.

As soft blue lights bathe the stage Griff enthusiastically entered with her band and performed ‘Vertigo’, ‘Pillow in My Arms’ and ‘19th Hour’. The set emitted an ethereal and simplistic feeling, with a white curtain filling the backdrop that reflected shades of orange, blue and purple, a platform to feature the pianist and drummer and a large spiral lit chandelier emphasizing the dizzying vertigo.

Griff stated, “We only have one rule, leave your anxieties at the door" instructing fans to “let go, and dance like no one is watching” before transitioning into ‘Hiding Alone’, ‘Walk’ and ‘One Night’. The audience clapped along as red and yellow light flashed throughout the venue while Griff commanded the stage during ‘Head on Fire’

As the enchanting ‘Where Did You Go?’ echos through the venue a visibly intoxicated - from the music or alcohol, we'll never know - man flittered through the aisles performing his own rhythmic dance. The song, which Griff introduced as, “What hurts the most is the unanswered question of ‘where did you go?’” gut punches the audience as they intently listen and take in the song.

Griff headed into the audience, guitar in hand, to fans that fully encased the singer as she began to perform ‘So Fast’. Staying within the crowd she played unreleased track ‘A Stranger Took Your Body’ for LA fans, continuing a tradition of playing each stop a never before heard track. The song puts emphasis on breakups of all kinds and the feeling of grieving a person still alive. Making her way back onstage Griff began to play demo track ‘lastnightsmascara’ instructing the crowd how to clap along with the music, noting she hopes to release the song one day.

Ending with energy filled 'Tears for Fun' Griff bounced off stage waving and blowing kisses to the crowd. Previously performing to a crowd of 200 at Los Angele's Moroccan Lounge to her performance at The Wiltern, also now currently on tour supporting Sabrina Carpenter; with continuing success and growing crowds, Griff proves she is a powerhouse to watch.
